Keeping a pre-order going even though you are hard-pressed to believe that the title could turn out extremely shitty is the pinacle of fanboyism.

I only pre-order and keep it pre-ordered if by any and all circumstances (Including but not limited to: alpha, leaks, demo's, reveals, etc) the game remains the most awesomely flawless piece of work that I simply cannot wait to play.

If I pre-order something, and it starts to smell like a rotting carcass covered in shit during any phase of pre-release-window, I cancel my order.

That game will end up as a "lets see what the user reviews say in about a week after launch" title.

Stop defending something as if it's the end-all of the universe. If a Beta is shit, the game is likely to be shit.
The only way it won't be shit, is if the problems and issues brought forth by testers are VISIBLY ADDRESSED. (Yes that was aimed at all you "shut-up its Beta! STOP COMPLAINING!!!" fruitcakes...

Wanna see a game where complaints, suggestions, and other such feedback wasn't visibly addressed? Final Fantasy XIV.
Wanna see a game where the Alpha and Beta was shit, but we were promised it will be awesome at launch? Final Fantasy XIV.

Wanna know what is currently happening, will continue happening, and be the eventual future of Final Fantasy XIV?
    Trash can. Forever. Goodbye.

    Main point?
You CAN and SHOULD judge a book by it's cover. That what cover's EXIST FOR!
(Now replace "cover" with "Beta" or any other such term of choice)
Then I guess that's very subjective. I found the beta to be far from shit and so did many others. There's nothing wrong with the gameplay or anything, it's just bugs.

Take a look at Rage for example. The game was released on PC as an utter mess whereas the BF3 Beta is not nearly as poor. If you didn't like the beta because you didn't like how the game felt then that's another story.

As for your point about below

lets see what the user reviews say in about a week after launch
I'm feeling fairly confident the reviews are going to be stellar. Just like my instinct on Rage was "something doesn't smell right here", my instinct on BF3 is "this game is the bloody beez neez yo".

Feel free to quote me on this and if I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it, but I reckon BF3 is going to come out to massive applause by gamer and critic alike.

I have to agree with Isengard on this one. Haters gonna hate.

This game has been confirmed to run on code older than two months, the bugs in this game is minimal. The time and effort spent on the development and making this a next gen game seems to have gone over everyone's heads. The graphics is locked on medium so cannot be judged yet; feedback from DICE suggest that everything is taken in consideration for the final reelase. I mean look at the release of blops, the retail release was in a worse state than even the alpha version of this game if you want to throw the CoD franchise in the mix for comparison.

Anyway, this is a debate that can continue for... wait... 3 weeks, cause then I'll be playing BF3.

You continue to call me fanboy? I apologised for calling people names yet you continue to call me one?

I said that it is ok for some to wait and see what the game is like and therefore excluding them from my harsh wrath.

How can I be a fanboy if I said I would play cod as well? Do I need to play every other game on earth just to show my equal opportunity game playing?

    Anyway... Moving on:
You cannot judge a piece of software before the developer has said that it is final that is not fair on them.

If the people that cancelled did so because of uncertainty then cool.... But to completely say that you will not purchase it at this stage seems irrational.

Other software that had a bad beta windows 7 early beta.

It is indeed extremely subjective. Hence why it peeves me off so badly when certain people go out of their way to crucify anyone who has something negative to say. That person has every right on the planet to cancel whatever the sweet hell he wants to based on whatever random complaint or dissatisfaction comes thereof.

But lets not split hairs. It's not just bugs. It's a LOT of them. A whole lot more than what would be considered reasonable...
And like so many people are chiming - "It's old code, yo!". Oh... so were "testing" code that needs no testing?

Very clever of EA, and also extremely pointless. My hopes for this working out is falling by the post...
"Lets have everyone play old code and have them play bugs that don't matter! That would be soooo funny you guys!"

I really can't understand why people keep complaining about everything.... I'm starting to really feel ashamed as a gamer, it's called a beta for a reason

If one does not have anything good to say about others, don't say anything at all.
But, that is not the way it works, is it?

For me, this is a great game, I enjoy the gameplay, visuals, but, hate those blerry torchlights in my face, hehe. Can't wait for original...

from the limited amount of play had on this, had great fun with the game and I know I am going to love it.
The anticipation and excitement for playing the larger maps is there, and look forward to seeing what they are going to do with the final release with squads.
There is alot of shit to short out, but they will get it done. Not counting on it to be 100% even on launch, but that is what patches are for in any game. It goes with the territory.

I find it hard to get pissed off at a company that is fixing the bugs already and is openly looking for feedback to make the game better and the best. That is the only point of a beta and should be treated as such.

I have some info for those of you who didnt manage to play on Caspian border....

I managed to get a few games on Caspian border and flew jets, helicopters and drove tanks and i can tell you that's where the true BF exp is, Metro does the beta no justice whatsoever, its obvious why they chose Metro as teamwork on that map is next to none, its obvious they want to pull cod fan boys in and get them to buy this game to, at the moment im running on DICE's reputation which is fairly reputable, the one thing they are constantly doing is patching their games, the post support of their games is to be commended. Now im not going to compare to MW3 or any nonsense like that, why> because IW lost their credibility with MW2, atleast when it comes to PC games, its been said PC only makes 4% so go figure.

If you must cancel your pre-order, fine do that and wait for the reviews, the understandable, you can wait a few days, read reviews and check out some final build videos on BF3....
Personally i trust DICE and believe they'll deliver on their game but that's relative to my point of view....

Totally agree you cannot play a beta and expect to not get bugs, hence the reason why I decided to not play the beta and I'm happy with what I have seen from BF3 footage so will pre-order the game and I'm pretty sure it will be an awesome game.
@Buzz that is great news, BF2 gameplay and fun was missing in my life since I stopped playing it.
