I used to pirate games in mah younger days. Well some of them anyways (I ended up buying titles afterwards that I really enjoyed like D2 + LOD, Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate, NWN etc.).
I do not condone piracy and I have gotten rid of all my pirated games but at the same time I also get extremely p'd off at the crap that devs churn out (Hellgate London) comes to mind.

So if you want it from a gamers point of view, why should I pay a ton of cash for crap with a no return policy and yet a dev may produce crap, smother it in marketing honey (big flashy website, well pruned demo) and flog it to the end user as the best thing to emerge from Beelzebubs bottom. At least a saving grace are independant reviewers from sites and gaming mags that provide us with said reviews. /rant off
