Default World of Warcraft in SA

    Hi

I need some help as in what is the best networks to use for WOW in South Africa i just moved back from Canada and wana continue to play wow via a new account hence the fact that i apparently have to switch to a UE server, as i have read in different forums. But none of them specify which is the best networks to use in SA.

Can someone pls help me with this problem i seem to be having!!

Why do you want to use a new account? Biggest SA horde guild is on the US servers...

    E....U

    E then U

    for European Union.

You don't have to play on the EU WoW servers. Yes the latency is better when playing EU as opposed to US but that's about it. There are more SA players on EU than US mostly because the local SA copies of WoW are EU editions, so it's easier to get xpacs and game cards from retail shops.

If you don't have any particular attachment to your old char or the people you used to play with then it would probably be better going EU but as I said, it's not a must. As for the best ISP, well I used to play on Mweb Uncapped on the US realms and didn't have to much hassle but some people prefer Web Africa accounts. I don't think it's really that much of an issue, you'll be alright with just about anyone.

To be honest, as someone who has played on both servers. the difference is next to nothing. EU ping = 250. US ping = 280

That's like absolute best case scenario with a VPN service.

Typical US pings are more along the lines of 500ms, and typical EU around 250ms.

    Yeah, pretty much that.
My experience in SA with both US and EU servers ended up marginal. The latency differences are not as severe as most people paint.
Ask the same question 5 years ago and the answer would have been EU all the way. But our internet has gotten somewhat better since then.

Either way, regarding what network you should use:
There is no real one single answer here imo. There are a few networks to stay clear and away from with regards to international MMO latencies. Worst of the worst is Telkom. Just don't go there. They don't optimize for anything...

Second, stay away from wireless networks (including cellular such as 3G). Wireless never works well with latency considerations.

After that - it's pretty much fair game and whichever you feel most comfortable with.
