my phase lasted a very long time... stopped round about the time MW2 came out... after the endless hours online battling it out with the first MW i just lost the plot and got completely fed up hated trying to keep up with all the PC hardware requirements so switched to console and the price of new release's made me sick...cancelled Live and my xbox has become a media player my dinosaur of a PC i threw out the window (literally) only now slowly been easing back into it being a complete cheapskate borrowing and trading games with friends most of the latest i play at work so no need to buy as much life outdoors is so rewarding got back onto the DH bike play paintball rather regulary (so addictive) variety is key in my opinion

Check yourself before you wreck yourself :D

I've been through the same "gamer depression", the key for me was doing something ELSE, getting back into an old hobby or just going out once in a while. Take up a new challenge, gamers in general are rather strict on themselves so it can be rewarding.
Ultimately it comes down to balance in your life.

Since I quit my life-draining days of WoW I've enjoyed more games than ever before, I've done better with regards to my job doubling my salary, managing my time better and loosing 22Kg's in the process.

A healthy balanced life leads to a healthy mind blah blah just find something you enjoy for you, but don't over commit your time to it.

Take a break dude, and not a 2-3 day break. A KAK Long break! My suggestion would be, buy a new title that releases like Uncharted 3, then when you get home, place it in the most common place in your house, the most obvious place but DON'T OPEN IT! Don t even touch it for like a week or so, see how long you can go for without playing it. Challenge yourself, once you finally crack and want to play it, DON'T GIVE IN. Try to stay away longer. Trust me, it helped me. Went through this exact same phase although it wasn't just with gaming, I was tired of everything! I was tired of friends, family , gaming, sports, EVERYTHING. I was so depressed but it was Fallout 3 that saved me. Stupid, yes but its the truth. If it wasn't for this game, I prolly would have gone insane with the depression. I bought this game because I really liked the other Fallout games but didn't feel like touching it. Eventually I got around to playing it, and man, let me tell you, a game has never griped me like that game did, the time I spent away from gaming was too long, and when I played this game, it made me feel like a little kid on christmas day. After that, my old self started coming back, I began to socialize again, spent time with my family and friends, got a girlfriend(who I am still with to this day lol) and actually enjoyed my job. To this day, I have found no game that has made me feel that way, thats why I love Fallout so much. You could say it 'saved' me lol. Sorry to write a whole essay but just thought I would share with you my experience. We all go through this phase and no one can say how long it will take to recover, it could take weeks, months, maybe even years but do not force yourself to go back to your old ways, it takes time. You might not even go back to your old ways, not saying you will stop gaming entirely, but you might now be as active as you were before, gaming wise. Just give it time, man. Just my 2c, MY LONG ASS 2c haha.

EDIT: Also, we can co-op SS3!!!

yep, I get like that at least twice a year. Just roll with it, if you dont want to do it then don't its that simple. To play a game is not something you have to do. I think if you keep playing through these down times you will become truely addicted, like, need to go to rehab addicted.
Burn out just signifies your brain/body needs something else.

There are plenty other cool things out there waiting to take up your time and add to your life, it doesn't mean you have to quit gaming either just don't fight to keep yourself interested, that is no fun and is just a chore.

Yep, it does come back to you. But in between try doing other things, like reading, or getting into tv series, or something.

Then come back online in a few weeks and get back into the hype.
