mobo biostar a880gz (dont know if its here yet) AM3+ board which should be futureproof Should retail for under R900
otherwise go for the Biostar BS-A785G3 Motherboard R671.00

    CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor - 2.8GHz = +-R1700

    ram kingston 4gb ddr3 R272.50 vat inclusive @ esquire= R 272.50

    So R671 + 272.50 + 1700 = R 2643.50 enough left of your R3000 budget for another 4 gigs of ram

Actually rather up the motherboard if you go for that build, the extra ram can always come later when needed but a better motherboard is always a better investment.

biostar boards are pretty good imo, I still have an a780g M2 (HTPC) running an athlon II X4 620 and its been running solidly for over 2.5 years without a single hitch !

the am3+ board would be the best solution since it supports bulldozer but for R671 the am3 one isnt bad imo

    specs of the R671 board

Ive got a friend that wants to sell his http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pro...uID=19&LanID=9 for R500

if yo uare in the JHb area.. its worth about R600 - R800 new and he won it in a comp so it is literally brand new. not used once.

then buy a phenom 1055t and 8GB ram and yo uare sorted

I can also vouch for Biostar boards as I used to have one myself when I still had my athlon dual core.
What I am saying is that for that R350 balance the motherboard he could get would surely be better?
