Sandy Bridge E..Shocking prices...

The Joker

Thread Killer MKII
So for all the die hard intel fanboy's out there that have been saying how Sandy bridge E will be worth the wait and it'll perform like a beast ( which it probably will ) Here are some prices for you guys :D

Chinese and US pricing are very similar, so a direct conversion from RMB ¥ to US $ will give a good indication of pricing. Unfortunately, the lack of competition from AMD appears to be affecting Intel’s pricing strategy, with the old price brackets of around US $300, US $583 and US $999 being increased to new brackets of approximately US$550, US$999 and US $1,200 respectively. The Core i7-3820 is priced at ¥3,500 (US $550), the Core i7-3930K at ¥5,800 (US $912) and the Core i7-3960X at ¥7,800 (US $1,227).

The Asus Rampage IV Extreme is hovering around the US $942 mark, while the MSI X79A-GD65 8D is priced at a rather more sane ¥2,990 (US $420). Pre-order pricing is normally higher than the final RRP as vendors try to make a bit extra by securing end-users with CPUs, but the above should give a rough idea of final worldwide retail pricing

All I can say is wow intel :p In the current financial status of the world you launch that with you're new revised prices...LOL

Amd fanboi strikes back?

LOL Neah I really do like the current range of intel cpu's. I think a 2500k is probably the best bang for buck cpu ever.
In fact I own more sandy rigs than I do Amd rigs :)

But seriously..wtf is up with those prices...that's insanity.

Honestly I don't think amd is in a position to charge more than intel, they however can charge what they seemly want to. At end of the day I'd take the cpu that preforms best in what I want it for, however personally my initial choice would be to look first in the intel and amd camp.

Amd for long was king of the hill before the core range with their hammer cpus and those was pretty awesome. Intel's due turn to sit on the throne till such time amd delivers something that really and totally takes that crown and not in just few tests.

Nvidia will have its day of reckoning for screwing over 3dfx, it's just matter of time before the wheel turns for them.

However until imho until both really comes to play I'd still prefer intel...

To each their own mate and like I said I am a fan of the current intel cpu's.

As for Nvidia getting their day, its already happening.
Dealing with people ordering pc's and parts ect, I am noticing a trend towards AMD gpu's as of late.

Anyway back on topic :D

heh, just be thankful we don't have cyrix any more ;)

lol that was a little bit before my time..or I should say..I was 3 when cyrix came about as far as I know xD
But yeah it would be epically awesome if we got a 3rd player in the cpu industry, but I think that ship has sailed and we are stuck with either amd or intel for quite some time to come.

As I've said I don't think amd is in a position to charge more than intel where as they can...

Hey, I remember that. There was also the IDT WinChip and a couple of other "shaky" brands I think back in those days :)... Good times (well, except of course if you actually happen to be the not-so-proud owner of a Cyrix or Winchip :))

I don't think intel will be selling very many of these chips, as most of the people I know who are die hard intel supporters have told me they will skip Sandy E and wait for Ivy Bridge, which hopefully won't set you back as much as these chips do.
