I've always wanted a 3D gaming setup. But I can't see myself watching day to day TV in 3D.
I'd also like one but I think the novelty may ware off after like 2 weeks :/
Maybe if it didnt cost so much people will appreciate it more? If I buy something that expensive it better be worth it
When you consider that you need a beefy gfx card and 120htz monitor then yes it's very expensive. But, if you already have a heavy gaming rig then the R1000 for the glasses is not huge. I had 3D glasses before nvidia released their in house brand and I have the nvidia set now, definitely worth every cent.
What screen are you using? And here is the catch-22 situation I am in... I got 1 x 27" & 2 x 24", with the 27" in the center...
So what I was thinking was to sell all 3 of them and then only to buy a Samsung S23A950D (the 27" version)
Should this be a worth while thing to do. 3 x screens for 1 x 3D screen?

Naw... but I am personally looking at this every day growing more and fond of it.
Who needs any amount of screens with separate glasses when you can have a 75 FOOT 3D monitor WITH MOTION TRACKING?!?!
... And the answer is "Yes, I did verify that it is actually an extremely good quality product", before anyone goes there...
I've seen 3D movies in the main cinemas. There are major problems with using the current methods. As stated distance between our eyes varies. Not everyone has two eyes that are perfectly matched in visual acuity. Screens have edges where there is no overlap. Ghosting is a huge problem. Basically any system that has to presume everyone is the same is never going to work well.
The most annoying thing about the movies is that they started to come out only in 3D at the decent cinemas. I love 3D movies, especially when the 3D is totally over the top, but it's hard work to watch them and I don't like not having the option to watch them in good old 2D if I'm not in the mood to work my eyes hard for two hours.
In a game with only having to cater to one person's specific requirements it could work quite well. One requirement for me though would be that only the area with complete overlap is visible.
Another Avatar? It may have been of a slightly higher standard than some other 3D movies, but only in production values because the plot was stupid and the main character tedious, boring and silly. Now that's fine, except the 3D was totally pedestrian too. If they'd gone all out to the point of silliness with the 3D I'd be happy to put up with no plot and characters I keep hoping somebody will shoot in the head.
Directly? No. But a lot of sites (takealot.co.za for example) have import request features.
Shouldn't be too much to import either, as they do have a distribution point in Europe. Most everything electronic you buy here gets imported via that route anyway.
Once I finally cave in and wanna buy it, I will probably go through takealot.co.za myself...
You can always import it yourself. The package isn't too obtrusively large or weighty, so shipping costs shouldn't be too bad.
