Default Peter Jackson: Halo Chronicles 'no longer happening'

After years of speculation – appearing on our E3 bingo cards for the last two years in a row (2008, 2009) – it looks like we can finally lay to rest questions about Halo Chronicles, the much-ballyhooed partnership between would-be Halo movie producer Peter Jackson and Microsoft Game Studios. When asked about the project following a screening of District 9 – directed by would-be Halo movie director Neill Blomkamp – Jackson told Joystiq, "That Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening."

First announced in September of 2006, the project was later revealed to be an "episodic" series in 2007 and confirmed as recently as April of last year, when Microsoft said, "Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of [a Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project]." Another job listing in August of last year again alluded to continued development of the project. With key hires like Ryan Payton for Microsoft's newly unveiled Halo studio, 343 Industries, we're not sure what all is going on if Halo Chronicles isn't. We've asked Microsoft Game Studios to confirm Jackson's assertion and are hoping there's some sort of miscommunication here. Maybe "no longer happening" is a Kiwi euphemism for "totally happening." No?

Did you ever actually bother to read the books? Say what you will about the LOTR trilogy is remains on of the most faithful novel-to-movie adaptations ever made and if anybody could make a decent Halo movie it would be Peter J.

Yet again i ask you did your read the lord of the rings novels? King Kong is a movie from before our time, he brought it into the 20th century and did wonders with the subtle undertones. You obviously didn't get it.
Phantasm? That was way back when he was an indy director, i dont see people complaining about Tarintino's Grindhouse even though that was a cheap B Horror.

I don't think he can pull off Sci-Fi, he'd probably gay it up somehow.
Probably make Cortana a male and have Master Chief fall in love
Peter Jackson is Overhyped and overrated

The books are as boring as the movies, I couldn't get past the 1st 100 pages before sleeping.

Difference between a B-Horror and Grindhouse, Tarantino's was intentional made that way while the others were actually serious about it.

    /Sigh.

I never claimed the man was the Alpha & Omega of film making (thats Spielburg and Lucas) but he did a very good job on LOTR's. The gay undertones in there, where in the original book. So blame the toppie from bloem not the director that stuck to his source.

The books where writen in the 1950/ 60's by a professor from bloem. They may be boring but they formed the basis for many if not all D&D style fantasy we have today. As a writer myself i admire the depth and complexity of Tolkien's opus and if anybody ever made a film out of my novel id get the guy who did ghost in the shell.
