Last time I've checked there are more users so naturally numbers will be up.

If population stayed the same you can't have more launch events, you can't have more sales. I've never quite understood the logic behind this zomg X sold more than Y, because the user base grows exponentially with each cycle. About as pointless as saying wow back in the day chips was like 10c, yes it was 10c, but you also got like R10 for a salary vs your R100 salary today and chips costing R4 now. *shrugs*

Yeah, but what's ironic is that all the BF3 fanbois were going on about how the game was going to do worse this year, due to the fact that BF3 was srs competition. I'd like to hear what EA has to say about this.

Let's do the console sales growth analysis quickly.

The world's population grows by roughly 1% per year so that's 68 million people. In the world there are currently about 110 million consoles (Xbox 360 + PS3) that can play MW3. As a percentage of human population how many are console gamers? 1.5%.

The game's sales increased by 11%. The population growth does not explain this.

    pointless is still pointless.

I market and sell my gaming to 10 pc users. 5 out of the 10 buys it, I have a opening day of 5 sales.

    1 year pass

I market and sell my gaming to 20 pc users. why 20 users? The player base has increased in a year due to reason X*. Now 12 users buy it, I have an opening day of 12 sales.

ZOMG 12 sales VS 5 sales !!!! ZOMG record !!!

If the users was exactly same 10 users with initial release and I managed to convince more of them to buy it without reason X* then it wouldn't be a pointless comparison. However you can't rule out the expansion of the user pool nor is it exactly the same user pool. Hence pointless comparison.

*being fucking, or accessibility, word of mouth of previous game, more launch venues, etc etc

COD is like FIFA now, make almost the same game every year and millions of people will buy it.

Although I suppose you can argue that if you spend enough time playing then buying it every year still gets you value for money.
