Sure you could pirate SC II to spite Blizzard and try help skew the pirate:sale statistics, I doubt they would really care. You'd be pirating a demo (whats SC without multiplayer), you'd get a taste and want to play it multiplayer and convert from pirate to buyer. Kind of like trying to pirate Left 4 Dead/Team Fortress 2, its just silly and probably just going to make you want to buy the game.

I do get it that you guys are peeved, but Blizz's target market is first world countries, not South Africa. Proper broadband is widely available at rock bottom prices there, so this will only affect a very small amount of legitimate first world customers, mostly in rural areas.

This is definatly going to hurt the pirates the most (as I said, it makes pirating the game pointless), who had been planning on using GameRanger and Hamachi to create their own little BattleNet.

Well I'll buy the 1st release (terrans I'm guessing) for the access to multiplayer/BattleNet. But I doubt I'll buy the others just to finish the single player campaign. I'll probably end up 'try before buying' the other races.

I'll definately be buying Wings of Liberty, firstly Blizzard make top quality games with more polish than your gran's dinning room table, and secondly.. it's Starcraft2! You can't fault Blizzard on this decision, how would you like it if your PC sales were declining so rappidly due to piracy? Piracy has caused Atari to almost go bankrupt, and there is even sympathy from pirates due to it. There is an unspoken rule to not release Atari games onto the scene or public trackers, and I respect that. I still frown on the idea of releasing 3 seperate games, but their argument is well balanced. They just cant fit everything into one game, there are so many things they will want to build on, character progression for a start.
As far as the Multiplayer goes, you can't really argue until you try it out on Battle.net, ping times many be less of an issue depending what network structure the new Battle.net is built on. Take Heroes of Newerth (HoN) for example, if you have played the beta, you will find there is very little latency and those are to server's across the globe.

    Just my 2c

I don't give a crap about the single player. and the starcraft universe story line doesn't attract me at all.

R400 for some multiplayer pwnage. Who's going to try and take me on?
