    Bleh, The graphics are overkill-perfected-awesomeness
However, the game itself needs to be more FF7-FF8/FF9 Fun if you know what I mean

Yeah I must agree. Since FFX I have been feeling a little 'off' with the brand. It has started to have a very generic feel to the worlds and the overall style.

Favs for me were FFVII and FFIX.

As with any other series, it needs to evolve in order to keep up with the times. Keeping it old school without any progression is not the best plan.

FF8 still works on the PC, you need to download a patch for the new graphics cards, but it still works (still have the original CDs)

If you want to start, and dont mind the old skool of it all, check out the FF remakes for the Nintendo DS. I think they've remade 4, 5 and 6 (in japanese numbers)

Final fantasy 7 is awesome, but dated. I believe there is a modding community out there updating the graphics and stuff for the PC but you need an original install.

Final fantasy 8 was ok, battle system was kinda cool

Final Fantasy 9 sucked in my opinion. Cool idea to get back to basics with the magics and stuff.. but I didnt enjoy it.

Final fantasy 10 - Heck of a long winded. Good and time consuming but because everything is spoken (ok, ALMOST everything) it's kinda long - on the whole not bad, but very different from 7 8 and 9 in the combat (turn based) and no real random encounters.

Final fantasy 10-2 - I suffered from girly pop poisoning. Interesting how they did the combat and "dress spheres", but really, I feel it's a girls game. Oh, and the (real) ending kinda defeats the ending of 10.

Final fantasy 11 - online MMO, havent tried it

Final fantasy 12 - Think Guildwars or WoW - there is no "combat" screen, it's all in 1 world. I gave up on it when I got walked over by a random fire elemental thing.I felt the FF series was starting to wear thin after this one.

Personally, I found 6 kinda cool because it wasn't focused on a main char, you were a team. I confess that I never did finish it though.
    Wait... what?

My GF was completely addicted to the DS remake of III. She hated IV though and gave up with the game closer to the end.

    Well said!

I think XII is coming off as the most hated but I enjoyed it.
It had a different feel to it which made it great in its own right, too bad I only have the platinum one. Original was stolen

I'm still busy with XII and enjoying it a lot. My PS2 was stolen in 2007 when I was about 20 hours into the game.

    Insurance can't replace savegames.

The PSX emulator has applied a whole bunch of effects to FFXII and XIII - it looks like a new game. It's well worth checking them out.
