I tend to agree, we keep seeing developers coming up with bigger, better looking, games on the current platform so pushing out another console now (2012) sees like bad business sense. This goes for both PS3 & Xbox. I said in another post earlier this year that if we look at previous generation console some of the best titles came later in its life cycle due to developers finally fully grasping the tech. While next gen xbox dev kits may be out soon-ish but the average game on existing tech takes anything from 2 to 4 years to make on new tech you can be sure it will take at least 4 years.

yip, fully agree, halo 2 came at the end of the original xbox lifecycle, god of war 2 and motorstorm arctic edge at the end of the ps2 lifecycle (technically the ps2's not dead yet lol), twilight princess on the gamecube etc.

look at forza 2 compared to forza 4 on the same platform (comparing the 2 they look a whole generation apart) im sure there wont be another forza on the 360 but concerning other titles there's still a helluva lot of life left in both the 360 and ps3

As nice as it is to push forward with new technology and newer consoles, it's just not viable to have a product cycle of less than 5 years. Consumer's do not want to spend money on new consoles "regularly". The only thing I can criticize the Xbox360 or PS3 is perhaps the graphics could have more anti-ailising to get the crisp edges, otherwise I'd say it's holding out pretty darn well.

I agree with the posts made,a new console now wouldn't be good business sense.

Besides, with all the great games out now,i can't afford a new console anyway.

Ah man, I'm keen on a completely new Xbox.
Oh well...too bad. The other one is doing well, but just imagine what they could do with a new gen xbox...would be sweet!

I've said this before, the earliest we can expect the new consoles is late 2013, maybe even 2014. Sony and Microsoft would be shooting themselves in the foot if they release new consoles next year when the current ones are still making them tons of money and are not being sold at a loss.
