That is a bit too freaky for my liking its like that Computer in the movie the ISLAND where the main character had to much sodium is his blood.

Yes MS does make alot of mistakes, but dont fault them too much for it we get great things from thier failures except the Zune (they scrapped that), So windows 8 might not be a failure entirely, but it be a very good stepping stone on their next OS. As vista was to 7.

It could be remedied easily, they might miss the with the lip reading functionality and being drunk may be the only time you could play.

Somehow I can't see what the selling point is of lip reading in a gaming setting. I imagine it'll be a brief quirky craze and then become completely obsolete, just like those brain wave readers that were supposed to completely replace the mouse & keyboard, or at least offer a huge boost to efficiency.
Oh well, time will tell won't it?

I don't think it was meant as a selling or feature point, specifically.
I think they were just free-balling it to give perspective as to the type of improvement we can expect from moving the device onto an internal bus.

I think they would've personally done better if they had said that it would actively track your eye-movements, and fingers, to within XX accuracy.

Seriously... they could've showcased this as "Minority Report Controls Incoming!!!"

But... are they mentioning this because kinect 1 has such a limited number of really cool games? I'm waiting for a game that uses both the controller and the kinect seamlessly. Even if its gimmicky. Like a third person game where it only tracks the top half of your body and your character on screen does the same movements your head makes. Small things but it makes a kinect more enjoyable for your every-day game, without waiting for silly 'games on rails' through a 'kinect feature' rollercoaster game.

Wheres the kinect controlled puzzle games like disarm the bomb or surgery kinect something fun but different.

Maybe they can make it able to operate over a wider range of distances. That would be worthwhile feature. I'd humbly suggest that Bill's mansion is not the typical environment in which it will be used (even if he does claim his living isn't that big really).

Just don't take your Xbox into space.

I was thinking of buying a kinect... but it seems like I will have to do some further research. I thought the kiddies would like it

Kinect is fun but the limited space of your home and other factors limit the fun. We love playing Fruit ninja teams of 2 to beat high scores... Although multiplayer bomberman and castle crashers without kinect also rocks.
