    Default Sharing a Steam account?

I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before, but what are the chances a person could share a Steam account? Was just thinking about this. Say I wanted to buy a game via Steam and so did James, as an example, and we decided to open a new Steam account with a generic user name and password, but split the payment, what is stopping us other than ethics? I know it probably breaks all the terms & agreements etc, but other than that?

Yes, each time one logged into Steam from another PC it would send a email stating different PC etc, but again, also not insurmountable. I suppose online play would be an issue to a degree, but again not a gamestopper.

    Thoughts?

Ek het my steam account hier by die werk, en by die huis, met steamguard. Hy het my net die 1 keer gevra per pc vir die activation email etc.

Speel my steam games by die werk en by die huis

Jy kan net nie terseldetyd ingelog wees op albei nie.

I don't see how it's different to friends borrowing each other their console games. Or if in the same house how using the same steam account between two people is any different to those people playing the same game on the same console.

Ethically I see no issue with this, not sure that Valve would share my views though. Oh well.

Only thing is, if James is logged in and you decide to log in. It would log James out.

Okay, that would be obvious, but other than that? And yeah, Valve would have a total fanny wobble to be sure, but ignore them.

Not sure how they would know though.

You could do it but it would be more hassle than it's worth considering every time the other person logged into the account the other would get logged out.

For one game I suppose that would be workable but once you do this more than once on the same account it will get annoying very quickly since the entire set of games would be mutually exclusive game time. You could make new accounts for each game but then you have the hassle of making new emails and remembering the passwords for each account. Then you also don't get the benefit of Steam keeping your games up to date considering you would only be logging into the account when you wanted to play.

Finally you run the risk of getting your account suspended and losing access to the game anyway.

If you that cash strapped I would say rather just play the massive stockpile of older games you probably haven't finished yet and wait for the 'new' game you want to get reduced in price.

Unless you want to play multiplayer, one person can also just play in offline mode.

That should work, but in my experience the "offline" mode seldom works...
