I got this on release on PC, but lost interest in my character after 36 hours. I then restarted the game a futher 2 times with different characters/classes but again lost interest before even the halfway mark. I recently restarted again on PC, but then found the loading times and controls really frustrating and just decided to get it on PS4 instead.
Even though I knew most of the game from my time spent on the PC version, I still had a good time on the PS4. I did start to loose interest again, but I managed to push through it and just finish the game. I do however feel that this game has WAY too much padding and quests just for the sake of giving the player something to do. In the later stages of the game I only did like one or two quests per area just so I didn't feel like I skipped areas. I finished it in less than 25 hours with my character at level 18 and I only killed one dragon. I know that I missed out on a lot of content, but I just didn't feel like doing sidequest after sidequest after the game started feeling like a chore. I doubt I'll go back to this character to finish up quests and hunt dragons and such, but I did start another playthrough with a class I haven't played before. This time I will take my time and explore all the areas and try to do as many quests as possible. I'm basically just gonna play it on my off days to keep me occupied until Bloodborne comes out.
Overall I'd still give the game 8/10. It's a great RPG with a good story and big world to explore, but there really is too much padding in the sidequests to extend the overall length of the game.
