I can agree with that. The gaming industry has surpassed the movie industry. It just has to surpass the music industry to become number 1.
    That's what she said.

I feel really dumb that even though I play Skyrim allot I still had to Google it to understand the reference

I would really like to see these stats for PC game sales only, would be interesting and think that it might just be a little different.
But there is no real surprise with this.

Aren't MMO's played more than FPS online?
I would have thought that something like WOW had a huge number of subscribers, or even Guild wars

WOW didn't have a huge fan base back when it was released. Since this is a thread about the size of the game launch, ie how much £££ it made on launch, other games, like Halo and COD, take the lead. MMO's generate £££ over time, not right off the bat.

    Whose statistics are they using?
I think they take it based on release day sales or something to that effect.
If an old game like, lets say tomb raider 1 were to suddenly sell 20 million copies 15 years later it still wouldn't make this list.

CoD's a good game, but it has no innovation that I'm looking for in a game. They know what sells well, and they're "sticking to their guns". The main differences between all the games is the storyline and graphics. But that's my personal opinion, I still love CoD, but I also want to get a game that's innovative.
