Default Xbox Live account - Which region am I in and how do I migrate?

I distinctly remember being able to set the region of your live account when I first set it up, oh... 5 years ago?

My Xbox RROD'd and I haven't had one for two years... until now!

In the meantime though, most of my Live friends have moved over (migrated) to the South African Live region. I tried figuring out how to migrate my account over to that region, but all the Youtube videos and online tutorials are using older versions of the Live account page.

So how do I check which region I'm in and how do I migrate to the South African region?

I've only now seen your reply.

Yes, the Live "My Account" page is definitely not the same page as mentioned in the support page. In step 2 mentioned on that support page, there is no link called "Account Region". So, not sure what's going on?

Is it because I am a Silver member?

Maybe when I sign up to be a gold member, can I change my region?

It seems that what the support people are saying is contrary to what is said in the FAQ...or maybe it's just for specific regions

Post where people from other countries having similar migration issues:

I just checked the settings on my account. It looks like the entire region setting is now just missing.
Maybe your best bet is to call MS on that toll-free number they have and let one of the agents there migrate your account for you. I remember some other things I needed doing could only go through the call centre.
