First, well done to the OP, a rather strange discovery that was shared.
I am great sucker for unexplained mysteries and such. But other the years I have started to notice that a lot of these people have absolutely no idea what they talk about, they simply quote other people's opinions without checking that its viable. It seems that once two or more people use an unproven theory, it becomes fact. Most of the unexplained or conspiracy theories seem to strive on this principle. Atlantis for one, the only mention of Atlantis is in a story that was told as an example of how a great civilization can be destroyed, yet people have over the years tried to convince each other that there was actually such a place, trying to fit the facts to prove themselves.
By all means, do research, read books, look at documentaries, discuss it but do it with a skeptical mindset.
Always remember Moore's Fahrenheit 911, a compelling story with not one single word of truth to it. Every fact was twisted and turned to fit what Moore wanted us to think. Many of these unexplained and conspiracy theories are presented the in the same way.
A nice place to visit is http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum , while there are a lot of fighting on those forums, some of the people seem to know what they talk about.
