    My first impression of Origin...

Long story short, I'm downloading Mass Effect 2 via Origin because, while I have the CE, I figured I'm getting ME3 via Origin, so I may as well link my ME2 serial too. So I did. Also, no SecuRom crap or need to have a disc in the drive via Origin so... YAY!

So, I start my download. A little annoyed that I can't just copy files over ala Steam and have it recognise files and just copy the missing bits but okay, fine, no problem.

Download crashes. Like, just randomly "An error occurred. Please log out of Origin and log back in. If error persists, contact EA support." Sooooo... I put my "Fucking figures" face on, close Origin, start it up again and THAT (the image) is the message I get.

Closed it and opened it a few more times and eventually it sorted itself out.

How nice. A download client that can't be trusted to download things without supervision.

    GO EA!

After having used Origin for about a week now, I have to say, it outdid itself. It's perfectly stable, doesn't use a lot of resources at all. It's a bit difficult getting around Origin at times, so Steam wins in the navigation category, but it looks a lot prettier than Steam. It doesn't have the same feel as Steam, though. Steam feels homey, whereas Origin just feels like a necessity for certain games.

Overall, though, I'm pretty impressed. Have no issue with it being required for ME3.

    You disgust me.

Firstly, how can you possibly say it's "prettier than Steam?" It looks like a bloated abortion.

Secondly, the only thing stable about it is that it hasn't crashed... yet. It's still just a glorified EA Download Manager with the same download problems (see above).

    THIRDLY:

Even its bloody store page only works when it feels like it. I was originally going to call it an over-inflated pile of crap but it just gave me another reason to dislike it.

What a truly abominable program. Yuck!

But at least it works for some people. Give me Steam over this any day

Edit: LOL! It just crashed! It actually just crashed! Omfg! I can't make this shit up!

It crashed going from "offline mode" to "online mode"

And, it's downloading Mass Effect 2.... in OFFLINE MODE!

    I. Love. This :3

I also didn't enjoy downloading multiple updates of Battlefield 3. 11GB to download 1.5GB is just pathetic.

Well, I haven't had any issues with Origin crashing yet, and that's a giant bonus. My Steam crashes absolutely all the time. If I exit a game, if I start using it after a period of inactivity, if I make multiple purchases, when more than one person talks to me, if I look at it wrong.

    It's a bloody nightmare, I tell you.
