I am not sure, but playing a Beta may very well have significant differences. I do not think it will be drastic changes, but there should be a difference in say texture quality? I have seen some videos for some areas that looked absolutely amazing!

The idea of no AH is real annoying I must admit, but I am used to Bazaar systems as well.
*Note: Aion does have an Auction House system.*

Also from what I have read the real content is in the PvPvE zones. And the game only really picks up after you get your wings.

Anyways, it may very well suck long term. Will only be able to tell in about 2-3 months on where the game is heading.

*Hype kills so many decent games when people are expecting too much*

I expected far more emphasis to be placed on the flying/aerial aspect. The original screenshots portrayed not only a beautiful world on the ground, but an entire world up in the sky.

Sadly it seems to have turned out to be a huge gimmick. Instead of designing the game around what is supposed to set it apart - flying - it's almost like an after thought.

Lastly, and I've said it a few times, the ground textures utterly destroy the world's beauty to me. What were they thinking?

I knew it was going to be linear and quest-driven. I just expected a tad more innovation and foresight considering it's 2009 and the games on the horizon are looking promising.

Just did some research on the graphics, and well the ground textures are pretty dull... Oh well, not such a big issue for me. AoC looked amazing but had so many issues on the graphical front (damn mem leaks).

I prefer that Aion would still look decent with the ability to have large scale Open PvP with reduced lag. After WARs Open PvP lag, I think they made the right choice. Still having the option for higher quality graphics would be nice

Broker system, thank gawd, not so much auction. I still don't get what the point of personal shops is though? Really, 50 people squatting around one popular NPC is ridiculous. It makes it almost impossible to find the damn NPC, thank goodness for the blue/yellow arrow above their heads >.<' I'd like them to get rid of the personal shops. It's a fucking eyesore.

I agree. So far I've just come across one place where you needed to fly to reach, and it wasn't exactly earth-shattering. Flying is, however, pretty fun, and I can see where the strategic part comes into play. However, there are "invisible walls" every so often that you fly into and then have to resort to walking past them. I don't like this. What's the point of an open-world where flying is possible if there are invisible frikkin' walls? O.o' Oh, and the walls are meant to be there. The orangey force-field effect proves that

Ugh... Don't look at me. I agree, completely. The ground is probably the most bland and lifeless aspect to the game, other than, perhaps, the static, blurred image in the sky.

I knew it was going to be linear and quest-driven. I just expected a tad more innovation and foresight considering it's 2009 and the games on the horizon are looking promising.
Quest-driven, yes. Linear? I didn't have that impression at all. The whole impressive point that was being made about this game's story, was that the players can change the course of the story. As I said, I have yet to see how this plays out.

My absolute biggest issue, is the sky. When Lani (the one writer/producer chick) was going off in the one Aion podcast trailer thing about how when you look up, you see the other half and you know that right above you is where the other players are. I haven't gotten this impression at all. To me, when she said that in the podcast, it was the moment I finally decided I wanted this game. But... looking up at the sky... Is the most disappointing thing about this game to me. You know what they tried to do, and it's like a 9-year-old drew a pretty picture and they used that instead of the totally awesome concept that they had. It's like pulling off the idea they wanted was too much work or too much effort, so they settled for the next best thing - a fucking image. Like they hope no one notices.

I had this idea in my head (I know, crazy imagination) that when you look up, you'd be able to see lights or fire and the odd spark or burst of fire or something, something that'd give you the belief that the inside of the other half of the world is there, right above you, smouldering away.

*nod* I'd like to put emphasis on having the choice. Seriously, 140fps is awesome, but what's the point of a high frame rate if there's nothing to show for it?

Oh, and this is what I'm talking about when I say that the sky looks like crap.

It doesn't move, it doesn't change, and yes, it does actually look that blocky.
