i get a feeling alot of folks was looking for the WOW experience and didnt get it. In regards with the "fugly" textures?
People will always find something to complain about. Fact is, some people are too caught up in their WoW "comfort zone" so they will look for something new but then expect it to be exactly the same.
Really, and here I was bitching about it being a WoW clone Lydon knows full well what my opinion of teh l33t WoW is.

I mean, really... Are people so into WoW that they can't see that the world textures are just as cardboard-esque and plastic in Aion as they are IN WoW? So how the hell would I be caught up in muh l33t WoW "comfort zone?" WoW is, to me, a glorified grindfest.

    Baaaaka.

I love how I give perfectly valid reasons for why I dislike Aion, but only one of my posts gets quoted and, "Zomg! He doesn't know WHAT he's talking about!"

*mumbles* Really, people have differing standards. Some people want more out of a game, others couldn't be bothered and all that concerns them is how attractive their character looks while they continue the mass extermination of mobs. I'd like more than just a pretty character. I believe I said that the characters are beautiful, didn't I? But that the world looks bland and lifeless. Why, in the name of the MMO Gods, would I want to play a game JUST like every other MMO?

Again, some people are into Barbie's Pony Paradise, others prefer something with a bit more depth and meaning behind it.

The first image (the login screen). It's beautiful, if the world continued to look that that, I wouldn't have had a problem. I may even have shrugged off being bombarded by the walls of dialogue text. But unfortunately, the inside of the game look like a crayon shade of that login screen. The flight mechanic is great, until you fly into a "YOU CANNOT FLY IN THIS AREA" message with that awesome orange forcefield, but hey, I'm just being too picky, right? I should settle for less and put up with it like all the other sheeple, right?

Again, no thanks. I can think of other things I'd much rather spend R150 each month on.

Aion had promise and potential, but I cannot help thinking that in the end, the only people it would really appeal to, are people who enjoy(ed) WoW, since it's pretty much the same concept.

I know I keep saying this, but a game like EverQuest II offers so much more depth, choice and graphical splendour. However, when it comes to combat, it's unfortunately a matter of stand still and spam spells. I want more.

Btw, Pandemonium's a lot yellower than I remember it being, especially the temple.

    The visions were awesome though.

I don't suppose anyone has the full client - or knows of a local server you can download it from?
