I would have to say Heavy Rain, I have not come across a game like it that blurs the line between cinematic experience and gameplay, along side the amount of choice & consequence that goes hand in hand, all together still proving to be quite an emotional experience.

I really enjoyed Wipeout and Wipeout 2097 back in the day. Neither of them are groundbreakingly original but at the time they just stood out as completely unique for me. Awsome soundtrack, speed and distruction like no other game at the time.

Good examples of games that while not being original are unique.

What about Katamari Damacy? I never played it but it looked wholly original when it was released.

Or Flower for PS3. Seems a lot of these games are coming out of Japan.
