Ok guys... i downloaded the demo last night. I'm an avid player of the first darkness game and i still love it immensely, so when i saw on steam that the demo for darkness 2 was out, i spammed the download button like a fat kid at a vending machine. coming in at just under 1.8 gig the hour and 45 minute wait sucked HUGE. So i managed to get in and play eventually... loading into the game the first thing that shocked me was the audio quality of the opening video... in a nutshell it was horrible. It was crackling and distorting no matter what i did to my audio settings, but i figured ok its just an opening vid then i went for the graphic options. not much there to be honest, textures, resolution, vsync and shadows on a low-medium-high scale. that's it.
After maxing the limited settings i loaded into the game. The graphics are pretty decent to be honest and the opening of the demo ran well, but when it came to actual gameplay controlled by the user, the game just feels like a console port. the menus work like they were made for console, the power system works for keyboard but again there is an underlying whisper of "this was made for console". So i booted out of the game and replayed it using my wireless 360 controller and what a difference it made. i felt like that was the way the game was meant to be played. i enjoyed it more using the controller than i did using the clunky control scheme for the keyboard and mouse.
Console portedness aside, its a hellishly fun, funny, gory, shooty title that i intend to play through to its conclusion
But heed my warning pc gamers... this is a console port through and through.
