I never played Witcher, but I'm sure it has a different character. Who's this guy?

Its Geralt of Rivia and I assure you The Witcher 2 has the same main character. The Dude in the Trailer isn't the witcher nor is her the protagonist. I believe, if I have the plot figured out, that he is part of the group who assassinated the kings and Geralt is suspected due to the witchery nature of the assassination.
