Piracy is not always bad, says Angry Birds boss

It can lead to more business at the end of the day, apparently

I can well believe that. I don't support piracy, but the fact that piracy can help expand on your "fanbase" is a well known fact. Dave Grohl mentioned something similar in the last month. I have done something similar before. I often download something (if I can't find it on YouTube) just to give it a listen. If I like it, I'll buy it. If not, I get rig of it.

I think they're small enough to say that... But look at companies that create game engines, Complex storylines, Hire actors for voice acting... things that add up to the THOUSANDS... I dont think they'd appreciate piracy. What does Piracy do that a Well thought out demo cant? What about awesome marketing? Fanbase does increase but your $$$ doesnt.

I doubt Rovio suffers from imcome loss from Piracy as much as Bigger companies like Microsoft and EA ect. And saying they make enough already isnt up for you to decide, you're not Robin Hood.

Fair enough. But I think what he is ultimately getting at is that even though game publishers might be losing money, they are getting exposure through piracy. I am not condoning it, but what he says makes sense.

Yeah but if the majority of the biggest players are not agreeing... then how much truth is in it?
Rovio's system is competely different from games released for consoles/PC. Its a completely different game. It seems unrealistic to compare profit/loss margins of a game thats mostly successful on a platform where the majority of the users dont know much about piracy, or implementing it on smartphones.
