    Default Nooby Steam Question

I bought Magicka over the weekend and would like to put it on Toni's laptop to jam at work. However as you might know it uses Steam so I can't just insert dvd and install. Even if I could I won't be able to update it at work.
So I need to be able to copy the game files and move it paste it on to her laptop so that the game will work on both machines without the big download of the game and its patches.
Someone please answer my nooby q. Thanks

You can copy your magicka folder in your steam apps and post it in her steam apps first time you run the game it should do the quick install and thats it.

Go to the drive and directory where steam is installed. Open the steamapps folder and copy the entire game dir onto the new pc's steam apps folder. Ensure your steam is not running when doing this on both machines. Restart where you copied the files and click on validate, sometimes it does this by itself. Hope you get sorted :-)

Open your Steam client, goto your library, right click on Magicka and go to Backup Game Files.

R4C3 has pretty much hit the nail on the head. I usually just copy the whole steamapps folder over (unless you have a hell of a lot of games)

Nope, just 3 games on my steam list. Magica, Skyrim and Darksiders

I have had some problems with just copying steam games like that, specifically with Magicka. Sometimes the game would continually crash.

To fix it, I had to rightclick on the game in steam and choose Properties. Then under the Local Files tab, I had to select Verify Integrity of Game Cache. That would check all of the files and then download the ones that needs to be fixed. It's usually a small download.

seeing as this is about steam i have a question, has anyone ever had their local (game) files deleted? i tried to play a few of my games last night and it kept saying game files not found. When i checked the steamapps folder all the folders are there for the games but the game files themselves are gone
