That is a concern. On PS i might be viable but with No local xbox live support it will count us out me thinks. I must say ive never experienced any considerable lag in Eve. I think the whole keeping it on one server reduces lag a bit. Ask OC he has 3g and i know his Lag is high.

The issue is not with slower the paced games like EVE and other MMORPG's, it's when you are dealing with a twitch based gaming system like a FPS that requires FAR more real-time accuracy.

This is the same reason why most SA FPS gamers play on local servers primarily. From what I know, most overseas MMORPG latencies are on average about 500ms for local players, which I know will not work with a FPS model. Also if you add in large amounts of players in an area.... ouch I am sure that can be really rough.

Nice read. They are doing exciting stuff.

And for the other developers, this is how you develop games:
Petursson revealed that the game has already been in development for 3 years, but did not give any clues as to when to expect the game.
It's been in dev for 3 years and no one even knew... Because everyone was still content in EVE Online and they were keeping the players happy and making updates, releasing content regularly.

Pretty interesting concept actually... mixing consoles and PC. It will happen more and more, like with Halo concoles playing with PC.

I have it on good authority that a big update is coming in the next few days for EVE too.

And 500ms ping is high, you should be able to get it lower than that, you should be able to get it in the 200-300 region. Still not good for FPS, but better.
What the mind can conceive, it can achieve.

I was just saying in general, unless all of us have unshaped accounts? I do, but I know of many that can't afford it, and besides even with an unshaped account, 300-500ms is about average from my experiences.

I dont have it on any authority, just a feeling in mah gut. CCP wouldn't let the Eve players feel neglected.

What you said about this being the way to develop a game, damn right. Low profile with big results.
