lol, Brad, did the bots swear at you, constantly disregard normal gameplay to see if they could grenade jump out of the maps boundaries or incessantly throw flash grenades at you to keep you from seeing anything that was happening ?
If not, then sorry dude, but that was nothing like playing online

In regards to the question about bots, the problem with bots is predictability, they have very limited path finding and decision making abilities and more often than not will follow the same set pattern every round (Take this from someone who practiced sniping in Counterstrike against Hard Bots and who used to like the wrist wrenching cramps you get form playing Instagib with a Godlike Bot on UT)

I would recommend rather looking at getting some second hand games at retailers if you are really too strapped for cash to move to another title, new games always beat out old stale games with AI players

    Default bots

Bots are so cool to play against (especially in Modern Warefare 3 and Gears of War 3) hope they have them in halo 4.

Yes they should I love the Guildwars 2 and Counterstrike Bots so I dont have to find people to group with

In GW2 it helps with finishing dungeons or farming epics/legendaries

The problem is, server admins want people on their server. No one joins, so they add tonnes of bots. People join, thinking there are players, and only find bots, making a mental note to never join that server again. Bots are replaced with a few people, but no one else joins ("they're probably bots")

With ADSL, there's also no real need for bots. Join an international server and play real people (albeit, with some lag).

Because artificial intelligence is not always as fun as human intelligence.

I enjoyed playing multi-player modes (back in the day with Timesplitters) but the AI became so predicable after a while that I got bored. So I guess if developers pop in some really fuzzy AI, it could definitely work.

There's a problem with AI and Pathfinding limitations that will always cause a bottleneck when it comes to AI Player Realism
They can be hard scripted to select a path but will select a pre determined path irrespective if this path is the best or safest option to benefit them, keep in mind tha tbots lack the decision making process that makes a human player opt for the left hand tunnel on Dust instead of the Giant Wooden Doors down Sniper Alley

Bots are a good idea but i know why some people would think they aren't good compared to online. If you're unable to access the internet for online play then I think developers should create a game mode that uses bots but is also fun to play (i.e survival mode with zombies or just general npcs)

    That's called single player.
