In other words, the chances of the PS4 having backwards compatibility is pretty small. Great, just great.

Building on the PS3, it wasn't too great either with backwards compatibility. Initial models had onboard emulation which was dropped...

Of course, my only concern is that the cell is a much more difficult set of hardware to emulate in comparison to the emotion engine.

So either the will do the on board inclusion of the cell to facilitate bc, or simply skip it altogether. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to emulate the cell processor.

Either way, fuck this shit. I'm going back to pc gaming primarily. At least there I can still play my 15+ year old games with fewer troubles.

Eish. I was considering getting a ps3, not too sure any more. Cell emulation... I really had a lol there, especially thinking how to do it software wise.

When I read this I was like okay there is a good idea maybe it be upgradable... Maybe. But then it dawned on me, changing the CPU would make PS3 games redundant and that is good, what happens to my awesome collection of games a built up over its current life span...

Then thought maybe they should make development easier and upgrade the cell archieture (spelt that wrong i know). Then maybe it would be so much more worth it... for current PS3 owners to upgrade and take thier games with them.
