I never put much faith in these numbers considering how much data it excludes.
Your data gets paid to your ISP not to the digital distributor, i.e. it wouldn't be factored into the actual price of the sale.Originally Posted by MOnk

As far as I know, Steam doesn't release information on the amount of games sold. Not sure if that stretches to sales amounts in general.
NPD stats are possibly one of the best indicators we have. They may have agreements with the various digital retailers to collate and publish generalised digital distribution stats. Maybe not

Yeah they may be an indicator but I would be more inclined to believe their numbers if they released information about all their sources and not just this lump sum which you have no idea how it got generated.
I would love to know how your brain made that connection.
