Game over for The Verge

So they cancelled a show I never saw.

I remember watching the verge and they had that new guy (No idea what his name was), any way he was reviewing a RPG. He started off with I hate rpgs, and ends off with its a shit game because he hates rpgs. Why the hell do you have someone review a rpg game who doesn't like rpg games. As far as i rememeber he only liked sports games. He didnt exactly come across as someone who actually even liked games in general. Boggles the mind how retarded the producers were.

Problem is nerds that do know games very, very rarely look like this:

Obviously people would rather watch 30 min of Ms Day (first picture) who may not know anything about games (Felica Day is actually a HUGE nerd) than spend 5 min listening to our intrepid Ghostbusters fan pictured above who knows a whole lot about games.

TV shows rely on ratings determined through how many people watched that channel while that show was on, if too few people watch it, it gets canned. The amount of people who want to sit and listen to someone like me or any other nerd who is well versed in his/her favourite past time will always be in the minority since non-gamers or casuals wont understand half of what we are on about it. Imagine trying to explain Mass Effect, and why its awesome, to your parents who are non-gamers or a girl friend who doesn't game, similar effect.

All this is the reason why most gaming related shows often feature people like jessica chobolt or the lot from The Verge (which I watched once for 5 minutes laughing my ass off as some poor presenter kept dying in the batcave of Arkham Asylum) who may test better with non-gamers while we games generally hate it. It is also the reason that most informative gaming related web-series often feature animated characters, Extra Creditz, Zero Punctiation, etc.

Consider that there is a good chance the producers probably knew less about gaming that the hosts....

Because you and I and everyone else on this Gaming Forum are gamers and as such dont need to see another person. Non-gamers, Casual, first timers, they need an anchor.

I never watched an episode so I am not missing much. Would have liked to have watched an episode to see what it was like but after reading some thoughts about it on the other forum place I see it wasn't that good.
Cybernet was my favourite show back in the day.

I agree with what your saying, but thats why they should hire actors.... They should atleast pretend to be interested in what they talking about. Its bit jarring to watch a program on compter games and have a host who is clearly not interested in games. Its like watching a cooking show being hosted by someone who doesn't like food, its never going to work.
