Pay to unlock Battlefield 3 kit and vehicles - how does this make you feel?
R310 gets you everything
It ruins a core element of the game
If people want to pay let them
I feel indifferent
Finally! It takes so long to level up in BF3

My main issue with BF3 has always been the lack of a balancing system that matches similarly skilled players with others of the same skill/level. A new player now wandering haplessly into a BF3 match will face off against players with some pretty impressive kit and get their asses handed to them. I know it use to happen to me all the time until i got some better stuffz.
However buying your kit seems.... wrong to me personally somehow. Cheating kind of. But then again its the bread and butter of free to play games and with developers trying to get that little bit extra out of their products post release beyond DLCs and stuff this is the natural next step. As long as it remains an option and some content isn't "purchase only" its all good because as Tsar said, it won't necessarily make you a better player.
So all the hours, and the effort to play the game, in order to get a gun (as a reward) that might give you the upper hand in a firefight, is reduced to a money thing.....pathetic.
There is a reason most companies only allow visual upgrades when money is brought into the game, as "buying" an advantage will never be fair in any form. I was always behind with crappy weapons in Bad Company 2, as I joined a year late, so how did I fix it this time round, start BF3 when everyone did, and played every single night to keep up! Wow..... to think anyone can beat my effort and rewards with R310........I'm done.

War doesn't determine who's right. It determines who's left.
The unlockable gear is a great incentive to keep playing. People who pay for the unlocks will be ruining a cool part of the game for themselves.
This is see alot, playing only because u get something physical out of it. Play alot get leet gear. What if there was no leet gear, what if you played every night and after 6 months you have no more gear that the player who just booted up the game for the first time. Madness i hear you say? Um No, Quake, Unreal, Halo 2, 3 & Reach followed this formula and was for many years the most played games online.
Whatever happened to playing because its fun or for the simple & pure pleasure of beating the other guy without any bells and whistles. Taking down someone who fragged you in the previous round not because you had a bigger gun/sword/staff/magic laser pointer than him but because you where better? For all the talk of "Skill" that gets thrown around in the competitive Multiplayer scene an awful lot seems to ride of the size of your gun. Its not skill if you take down the lvl 1 player with the worst gun in the game when you are lvl 30 with the best. A true match of skill has all the players with the exact same weapons or has better weapons scattered through the world and in so doing the players knowledge of the map as well as his skill shows how good they are.
As for incentive to keep playing; so you dont play because its fun or because you want to get better? You play because you will get a new toy? I must be getting old, my main "incentive" to keep playing is normally: "how much fun am I having" not "how much longer do I have to get raped by these people before I get a better gun and can do some of the raping myself". The lack of "Fun" is the main reason I could never play COD or BF long term. The moment I get kill not because I had less skill that the other guy but because he has a gun that does twice the damage mine does, is the moment I stop playing.

Gamer A : Has 100 hours to spend to get to level x and y gear.
Gamer B: Has 10 hours to spend + R310.
Each to his own. I might use this to unlock a few things here and there, depending on how it works.
Unlock everything at the start will ruin gaming for me, I like 'earning loot' , but I have perhaps a little more time than Gamer B?
End of the day the core game stays the same. FPS shooter with 'lite rpg' elements (leveling).
Just make the games like killzone2 where you had the option to play with people on the same rank as you.....kla
@OmegaFenix, I understand what you are saying, and the way I said stuff might have been understood wrong.
It's not the mechanic that "I only play cause I get something" which is the reason for sticking with a game. As you said having FUN is the main reason to play a game, but for me, having fun entails knowing that what I sacrificed in order to play, somehow was worth it.
Battlefield 3 isn't balanced when it comes to gameplay, as you will get the issue where having better upgraded kits will give you the upper hand quite often. Because of that fact I sacrificed time in my life to get my kits upgraded, in order to reduce that unbalanced effect, which allowed my skill to be the deciding factor in any scenario, thus being fun. Highly upgraded kits tend to make crappy players appear good, and that reduces the fairness, and thus the fun that I experience from playing.
On a side note, it's the same type of reason why I will never have fun playing WoW, as it's not the player with the most skill that "wins" it's the player with the most time. Just imagine you could upgrade your level of your character by paying......
