    Yup I agree Stefan9.

Each time I have encountered these kinds of statements in the past, only about 10% of the time are they really true.

It is likely to be about 40hrs-ish for the core story, with about an extra 20-40hrs with side quests and the like.

Speaking to a friend earlier today about this and he mentioned Bioware do not make long games anymore - and I have to agree. They usually end up being about 40hrs.

I don't think anything will be as truly 'Epic' as BG2,unless they decide to make BG3 finally. 40hrs is not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

It will be longer than 40 hours that I know. The guys working on the game has said only Baldur's Gate 2 is longer. So it will probably be about the length of Baldurs Gate 1. It will be longer than Mass effect, kotor, neverwinter nights 1.

I do believe its a long game just not 120 hours long.

That's a hefty number they are claiming there. More than likely half that is side quests and backtracking. It's still going to be epic though, make no mistake .

I don't think they would have spent so many years on the game for just 40 odd hours of gameplay ......... well I hope so anyway.

I ask Adrian at BT and he said he would phone EA. He hasn't gotten back yet.

Also the nice developers at the Dragon Age forums said they would try and find out for me. They are also checking the EU and Aus ce's since a lot of retailers are either unsure or giving false info.

I can't wait for this game... I finally pre-ordered my CE from BT! *bounces around happily*

I agree with Stafan9, I doubt it'll be 120-hours of gameplay, but hope it really ends up being that long if not longer. I loooove long games and it's been ages since I've played a game that took more than 50 hours to complete. I tend to try my best to take my time in RPGs though, I want the experience to last and see everything I can

Comments from some of the developers on Dr. Ray's estimate. So it is possible if you are a very thorough player. David Sims is one of the technical designers and David Gaider is the lead writer for the game.

Knowing a little bit about how the % complete figure is generated in game, I would advise not taking it too seriously. I also believe it is impossible to max out in a single play.

As for Ray taking 120 hours to play the game, that length of a playthrough is possible, but it is not typical. Ray is a thorough gamer, and he savours his RPGs. Don't take 120 hours to be an average because it's more of a high end for people who play slowly and spend the time to get the most out of the game.

**** I take it back, I can't see anyone annoyed with a 70 hour game, makes no sense.
Heh, that's what I was thinking.

I think Ray was just saying how long it took him to play the game. I don't see him suggesting that this is how long it would take the typical gamer to play through -- which is a hard estimate, after all, because it depends entirely on your personal play style.

You can spend that long playing the game -- perhaps that is what is more important to take from Ray's figure, if anything. I think the typical playthrough would be less, and for some people who charge through it it may even be a lot less. It's still an enormous game either way.

Basically reaffirmed what I was thinking.

Either way I am sure to get out about 40hrs, which will make me happy enough. Likely more if I do a 2nd play-through (which is highly likely).
