Pcint kicking ass again on those larger drives. One other thing though that wasn't mentioned I think is what are the warranties on the respective drives...?

As of January 2012, all HDDs only come with a 1 year warranty. This is down from 3 years for WD, and 5 years for Seagate. Yes, this sucks!

That blows big time. Damn, now i really feel like an idiot for not buying a 2TB just before the Thailand floods hit! edit: It was in my Takealot basket (just before the floods/price hikes) and I didn't proceed!! Was eyeing that sucker a few days and then the prices starting going up every day

Why are the online retailers more expensive consistently then PC Int I'd like to know, surely a brick and mortar store should be pricier? The only issue with PC Int is stock sometimes you have to wait

I wanted to buy a drive last year, then when I got a price on a 2TB drive, it was R1800 where a colleague bought the same drive 2 weeks earlier (before the floods) for R680... FML

    Not 100% true
    Seagate
the baracuda XT range have a 3 year warranty
momentus XT and Constellation 2 have a 2 year warranty
the Standard baracuda's now have a 1 year warranty
Think the enterprise drives like the cheetahs still have a 5 year warranty

    In terms of western digital
Caviar Blue, Caviar Green, and Scorpio Blue drives have a 2 year warranty
Caviar Black and Scorpio Black still carry 5-year warranties
