I don't like instanced housing. It kills immersion even more.

    Vanguard did it very well.

Instanced housing works. Works in the sense that at least your landscape isn't flooded with houses and you never run out of space .

As Lydon said though, it kills immersion. 500 people running in and out of the same "house". I mean, I liked having a house I could decorate inside and outside with my spoils of war so that people could run past and say "rich bastard" in UO. I don't see the point if it doesn't have that factor to it, but then we go back to the original problem, that there just isn't enough space.

I like how FFXI Online handled housing. Depending on certain items in ones house you would gain subtle bonuses. You could also do gardening in it and grow certain items needed for crafting.

EQ2's housing was also nice from an upgrading perspective. Going from a crappy lil 1 roomer, all the way to a huge mansion! There are so many options for housing items in it as well, like pets, and some truly odd items.

LOTRO instanced large neighbourhoods with merchants in them ... so you kindof still have that factor.

Instanced guild halls makes more sense...

The more your guild progresses, the more stuff you get i.e. special vendors / cheaper repairs / less crowding in Dalaran.

Plus your guild can put up their raid boss killings etc.

Guild Halls are nice and all...but in Guild Wars, for example, they're kind of pointless minus the convenience as like no one else gets to see it unless you invite them etc.

Imagine having a mansion for a house XD. There will be nore more space in the game anymore. or imagine buying a piece of land to make your own market place.

I'd resub if housing was implemented. Extra storage space would be cool.
Take everything I say with a pinch of salt. Infact, goto your nearest beach and snort some seawater.

I like the way Runes of Magic does their housing, its instance based, but the factor for me that makes it worthwhile is the extra storage and the tp & exp bonus you get from the furniture. I always log out in my house, give a nice boost to tp & exp the longer I'm in. Although, at one point it did feel like I was playing the sims when I was trying to get some tokens to buy furniture with, lol. Now that thats all sorted, my home is my haven.
