I agree with czc, I think companies that come in with new IP should look at a lower price point to get their game into more people's hands and more people talking about their game. Then once people attach to the brand they can look at increasing their price. Even if you only break even for your first game, if enough people played it then you are setting yourself up for a profitable sequel.
Good in theory, bad in execution. New IP is already a gamble for most publishers asking them to drop the price only add to the un attractive aspect of the game (from a Business point of view for them, we may not like it but its true). However the changes of them selling more units of the unknow IP at a lower price is better.

I think its also about where you buy. Taking Kingdoms as an example I bought it off Amazon.co.uk on release day and paid around £35 instead of the £39 asking price at GAME or HMV. Similarly Sniper Elite V2 I got for £29, a full £10 cheaper than retail. Whats the difference? Kingdoms was Published by EA while Sniper Elite was Published inhouse by rebellion and 505 games.
