Well just to let y'all know, using a CD with an older firmware did not work. Wrote the 2.0.7357.0 NXE update to a CD, loaded up the XBox and it did nothing. Pretty much what SA X360 said when he tried the same thing.

I then decided to connect to Live and see if it would work. Well as soon I connected it asked to update again. I'm not sure what it was updating because when I checked my firmware was sitting at 2.0.7363.0 still. I think when I tried to remove the system updates via X,LB,RB,X,LB,RB,X, what it did was remove the avatar creating program. So I think it might have downloaded and installed that again.

The update took AGES to download. I think I left the XBox online downloading for at least 3 hours before it was finished. Strange. After the update downloaded, the box restarted and I was greeted with lovely graphical pixelation on my plasma (kinda like the pixelation I saw on my old notebook a while ago).

I thought now it's gotten worse and totally screwed up the graphics processor or something. So I switched it off for the night and unplugged everything.

In the morning I came to switch it on again and everything was back to normal. No more pixelation. Maybe it was getting too hot or something. So I logged into Live and no new or more updates. Then I tried out the Resident Evil 5 demo. It started up and went into the game. No freezes yet. Played for about 5 minutes and everything was still fine. Went back to the dashboard and the graphics were still fine. Then switched it off again.

Will test for longer periods tonight, but I dunno. I'm worried that playing it for long hours will indeed either make it freeze, give it graphical glitches, or give it the RRoD again.
