Ping is a huge factor, but it doesn't help if you can't send the needed amount of data fast enough at that ping. I highly doubt you could play anything on EDGE. Gaming actually uses quite a bit of bandwidth - more than you would think.

Ya dude, even 3G isn't all that great for gaming, mostly because of the bad ping time. But I seriously doubt you'll have either the speed or ping time to be able to play online games with Edge.

Even with full signal on 3G, games will be laggy and shit.
