And announcing the face that it's an experiment won't bias the results at all..

I have a feeling this is just a case of Peter Molyneux being ol' Peter Molyneux.

Well think of it this way. Peter Molyneux is Jigsaw. You know you're in one of his little experiments to test the human condition yet you still participate (exclude the fact that participation is compulsory). Well in this case let's remove the threat of death and rather place your wallet on the line and then the (optional participation) experiment becomes "Which dumbass will be the first to let his/her/it's curiosity get the better of him/her/it and spend 50k euros to see what this unique [non-existant] reward is" . In the end his experiment won't be biased and whoever spends the money will be praised/mocked and Peter Molyneux has proven to be the gaming industry's biggest troll once more \o/.

I mean really, he has caught my interest (not enough to spend anything on his idea whatsoever), but someone out there will become desperate and will want to find out XD

PS. Is the forum missing the strikethrough option or am I just doing it wrong? O.o
