Your attitude of "its always been there" is exactly like those of the people who say sexism in games is fine because its part of the culture. Would you still sing the same tune if there where a bunch of male models in tight jeans and no shirts walking around advertising the latest title?

    Exactly.

No stripper goes out stripping and then says "my clients only see me as a piece of flesh", they should know this.
See I think thats a very backwards way to think, sure the idea is for them to be seen & noticed but Judged? Really? I dont think anybody, regardless of what they choose to wear wants to be judged like a thing. The issue is that, unfortunately, companies feel the need to have these women there to sell a product by attracting the horny nerds. That would insult me, as a Nerd. I dont mind seeing the girls there but the assumption that I would rather look at the latest Call of Duty (which in case anyone missed it I have ZERO interest in) just because they have some playboy wannabe in as little clothes as they can safely let her wear in public is stupid & an insult to gamers everywhere. However the Legion has once again Spoken and Sex sells & as long a sex sells this will continue.

I can only speak from the rAge exhibition but you judge the girls on hotness in any way. This just makes it more official. I am sure they knew about this when they accepted the offer to be booth babes.

Yes they knew that a few thousand horny gamers would be drooling over them and possibly (and I use the word sparingly) rated them in their minds but not by the press.

But surely wearing almost nothing and wanting people to check you out, then people drooling is a form of judgement? This is fine, the drooling... but the raised eyebrow raises eyebrows

I wouldn't say its fine but, like I said, as long as Sex sells this will be the case. I personally see no point in having Booth Babes at a gaming Expo, Cosplay sure but what do Booth Babes really add. I always ask myself, how would I feel if my wife was out in public dressed like that. How would I feel I people started putting a score on the way she looks, short answer I wouldn't want that and as a result I try not to do it to others. Not always easy though.

There is a difference between saying "check these booth babes, they are hot" and "rate this booth babe", especially when you do it in an official capacity on a gaming website. Like it or not gaming does have a stigma of being a 'boys club' so perception is important which means we have to be mindful in that regard even if it does create double standards per say.

Even more so after all the press time sexism in games have been getting of late.

I've never seen the reason to have booth babes at a gaming expo in the first place, aside from attracting gullible males to booths.

It's a shitty practice which has no place in the industry. I'm against the entire concept of booth babes.
