You're right...for me it's like comparing an audi S3 to a Toyota Hilux. One works better for specific conditions...
I will always prefer playing FPS/strategy(although i dont)/MMO type games on PC.
Console I find WAY better for racing / adventure / RPG and Fighting games.
If you don't believe me ... play ROMs and compare it with playing the original Nintendo games on console...
Depends on the type of rpg. The party/tactical style rpg is more suited to the pc.
With the pc being able to use the xbox 360 controller I don't see what advantage the console would have as far as that goes. Consoles advantage is convenience and easy of use.
We're having this debate again?
Sheesh.
How did a discussion of sales figures devolve into an argument about which platform is better for what games? Again?
You know what's best suited to what else? Whatever suits you.
The End
Yet another which platform is superior? God people this isn't lord of the rings, there isn't one console to rule them all. There are 3 different consoles/platforms because there are 20 odd billion unique people in this world. Imagine how boring it would be if we all agreed on everything and liked the same crap.
That having been said, having spent the last 3 months with out an xbox i would say.... Consoles for Certain games, PC's for certain games and real life for everything that remains.
It will likely never end until there is only ONE platform, and even then something will be found to divide the people on that platform. Seems this is an inherent instinctual thought process in all humans - some kind of need to bring something down to artificially raise ones ego up.
Balance Brother Balance. If there was only 1 platform we would all lose something. Back in the 1800's they fought over which family was the best, which religous. Like you said its Human Nature, we have to have fight. Main reason there are so many violent video games.![]()
PPL if we were not fighters everyone would just sit and die....
p.s games is a religion
Rock and Roll aint noise pollution
Have to disagree with you on the piracy point, Dr Manhattan.
There is no evidence (in the public domain at least) to suggest that a pirated copy of a game is a lost sale. And by evidence I mean scientifically collected and comparable statistics.
The two data points that are in the public domain (World of Goo, Ricochet) suggest that DRM or no DRM, a game gets pirated the same, and that one has to prevent 1000 pirate copies to convert 1 into a sale, which means commericial anti-piracy measure are probably not particularly cost-effective.
That's all I wish to say on the subject and I don't want to derail the discussion, so here's a disclaimer to those that oppose my above statement: I've heard all the counter-arguments. Short of presenting trustworthy, verified evidence contrary to the above my opinion will not be swayed.
As a counter-hypothesis, what about the fact that most gamers own multiple platforms. Is it not possible that given the choice between a DRM-infected PC game and a simple "pop in and play" Xbox360 game the gamer will choose the Xbox version? This will account for the much higher console (and particularly Xbox360) sales while explaining the lower PC sales. I mean who would buy the same game for both the platforms s/he owns?
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.
