Yes, but the objectification of women in gaming continues regardless, and even worse, there's a core group of gamers who either wants to insist that there is no sexism issue in gaming, or that it's part of gaming 'culture' and is therefore not an issue.

As for "the word" I find it funny that you get your tights in a bunch every time sexuality or sexual discrimination is mentioned but you had no issue using that derogatory word.
Hey, I'll freely admit, until after the incident, I didn't even know it referred to vagina. Growing up in a predominantly afrikaans community, it's not exactly like I ever had lessons in the meanings of all the profane english words out there.

However, I was more talking about the irony of me getting a warning for insulting a member who had just basically insulted the homosexual demographic. Especially considering insults are pretty common on MyGaming. It's not uncommon to get called a moron, an idiot, a fucktard, or anything similar when you're browsing the internet.

Unfortunately for those of us who want this stigma out of our medium Rome wasn't built in a day. 20 plus years if this going mostly unnoticed isn't going to go away in a few weeks or months. much like racism, sexism and homophobia in everyday society.

As for the insults I once got a warning for calling someone a fucking idiot. It happens. Like I said in the pm I sent you, there are better ways to deal with those kind of people, I myself de-repped him. Sinking to their level one only hurst oneself.

    Why must gaming be special?

This kind of stuff happens EVERYWHERE, sexism is EVERYWHERE. When it happens in gaming it's not some kind of fundamentally different attitude to women held by gamers that no-one else in the world holds, it's just something that happens.

    Is it right? No
Should we call it out when it happens? Yes
Should we act like it's fundamentally worse when it happens in games? No

Part of maturing as an industry and as a culture is to respond to situations in a reasonable and appropriate manner, not to freak out every time something bad happens.

And my hobby is gaming. Therefore, I will say something about something which happens in gaming, regardless of whether it happens elsewhere.

If someone is racist in SA, I don't sit back, shut up and say nothing because someone is also being racist in Germany.

No it's more of a case of not overreacting. It's a silly sport being turned into a game, there is no point giving it more power than need be.

Like seriously who watches LFL for the game and now they expect me to stare and play a game, fail. This will just further compound the sexist gaming stereotype. What's next ultimate Porn star.

Or maybe a case of telling developers 'hey, stop making shitty games that are only going to sell because boobslol, and rather focus your efforts on doing something decent?'

Then again, these are the WWE developers we're talking about, a 'sport' whose stupidity is only eclipsed by that of its fans.
