The man makes a valid point, but the sustainability of this way forward is yet to be proven, since you can't exactly make MMO's a clear example because they're changing their structures all the time. Essentially you would need a system like Steam to implement something like this from the get go, and then we will see what the true outcome will be.![]()

I see it this way:
If most games go FTP there will be so much to choose from. Obviously there will be paid content but if the free version sucks no one is gona bother to pay. So developers will be forced to make the free game fun and enjoyable otherwise people wont pay. I believe this is a great system and a awesome step forward in making greedy companies (ahem*) focus more on the game then the gold
