Default Is this a good deal? Second hand graphics card

My mate wants to sell me his old graphics card, but would like to hear some outside opinions on how good a deal it is- seeing as it's quite a bit of money.
    Bought it, cheers

Sorry for being blunt..but you would have to be daft to pass on a deal like that mate
As for drivers, the current drivers are fine, running them on 3x 7970's without any issues whatsoever.

Intel's Z77 chip set is now the new in thing, and Ivy bridge replaces the Sandy bridge.
In all honesty, if you are running Sandy, there is no reason to upgrade to Ivy as there is roughly a 5% performance increase and sometimes that performance increase drops to below Sandy performance, depending on what you're doing ect.

That said Ivy does boast really decent on board graphics, still slower than AMD's on board gpu's
It also supports Lucid virtu, although this tech is still in its infancy and will take years to mature and be usable 24/7.

As for AMD, they are releasing their new APU series now, with their next major desktop chip supposedly launching towards the end of this year. Expecting roughly a 15% performance increase on current gen Bulldozer cpu's.

Edit: Intel is already planning on launching their next line of cpu's (Haswell) mid June/July next year...So seriously not worth upgrading from sandy to Ivy and then upgrading again in less than a year. Haswell will come with a socket change so current boards will not be able to use haswell.

    Just doesn't make financial sense.

Just got another offer... HD5970 for R3000. That sound worth it, or pass? For fiancee's gaming comp.
