I don't think it was actually Total Commander that I was using, rather a version of it called WinCommander or something. It was quite handy for comparing / copying files around in my previous job, but the controls were a little odd.

Total Commander was called Windows Commander until Microsoft forced the developer to change the name.

Ah, ok then, I guess I was using an older version in that case

Total Commander is still the shizz... I use it till this day

It's especially great with queuing a copy, when you want to copy say 50 episodes from different folders on one drive to 50 other folders on another drive In stead of doing the windows drag and drop and then all windows say 7 weeks to complete....

    Teracopy, short for Terrible Copier!

TotalCommander is also an FTP client, has command line functions over SSH, and has mass renaming tools built in. It's an all in one package!

All that and a bag of chips. It has lekker directory and file comparison tools, the mass renaming also let's you bulk edit all sorts of file attributes, you can sommer type in DOS commands. It's starting to come back to me what an awesome program that was. I should start using it again

Talking about Norton and Total Commander... I opened S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and just after the game's intro, where you wake up... there is a computer in the room. If you look at the screen, Norton Commander is open ... Brings back old memories.

Anyway, I'm still using Total Commander... mostly of a FTP client, but for other functions too from time to time.

Back in the day, before RAR, I used ARJ which had the best compression at the time and was one of the first compression utilities that can properly span multiple disks. It was all command-line driven so your string was something like 2-3 lines to set all the options. Then we discovered RAR which had about the same compression, but with a UI.

No guts, no glory, no brain, same story.

Wow! This is a real trip!

That Dos4gw.exe was the thorn in any gamer's side in DOS.

    Remember me???
