You misunderstand me. I am all for pushing boundaries. Nor do i want gaming to shy away from content that may or may not offend certain racial or sexual groups. However i do feel that it would be better for the industry if it is handled in good taste. For games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect where its not just sex for the sake of sex its perfect, even in GTA IV it was handled well, u didn't get to go up for "coffee" after just 1 date. It was something you worked toward. U open the door to sex in video games and we will be drowning in games that start using it as its main theme. That, i feel, would do more harm than good to the industry in general. Gaming has come along way on the path to maturity. More adult themes can be tackled however i don't think its ready to start having sex in every second game just for the sake of pushing boundaries.

I'm all for sex but it should involve more player input. I'm thinking mini games, quick time events or button mashing Maybe you can get time extensions or build up combos and such.

The people who are old enough to play these games are old enough to go out and get laid. There is little reason to incorporate this sort of mechanic into a game. Ive always said, game are there to experience things you could never do in real life, fight off an army of zombies, drive a car over 100 people. Jump off the empire state. Sex you can do in real life so there is no point in having to experience experience it in games.

These things can be done in real life. It is easier for some people to do these things then to get laid. Hence why these things happen. But, I'm just kidding.

But, next thing you know, games are getting blamed for teenage pregnancy and the lack of respect men have towards women.

Too much room for interpretation here.

So many actions in games can be done in life. Some are more prone to this than others, but good examples could be sports based games.

Now I am sure some sport gaming fanatic will be quick to point out how certain things could not be done realistically in real life while you can easily do so in a sports game. Well with a little imagination I am sure we could also think of certain 'things' we could do in a sex portion of a game that realistically we could / would never be able to do in real life.

Anyways, It is not like I really care for this discussion much. I just wanted to point out the logic behind that statement and how broad it is.

This really had nothing whatsoever to do with sex in games, or this particular topic at all. This was an ethical boycott, against a man with questionable principles. The same might've happened were he a holocaust denier or white supremacist, or some such.

Also, the situation was a little more complicated than you've described. Orson Scott Card was involved in the development of the game.

My Apologies for Generalizing. I was just trying to point out that its just as easy to upset people on matters of sexuality than it is to upset them on matters of race.

I never said sex in games is a bad thing, it should just be done tactfully.
