I just finished listening to the audiobook of The Ables by Jeremy Scott (the co-creator and narrator of Cinemasins). This book is a marvel to read/listen to. Another brilliant subversion of the Superhero genre (I guess it is a genre at this point, right?). This reminds me of the first time I read Steelheart, and I thought to myself, "Did he just give us a superhero story where the heroes have no powers, and instead the superpowers are all almost entirely villains?"

The first chapters filled me with complete awe and wonder as you learn about the superhero culture of the world Jeremy depicts in The Ables. As you learn of each character's powers, you honestly get a affinity and respect for each of the characters and their unique struggles (especially when you think about their powers and the handicaps to them). Each main and secondary character feels fully fleshed out and unique. Side note: The freakin' villain?! Without much detail, this villain is something else.

The plot in itself has superb pacing, because it's fast, it's action packed, but it let's you breathe and soak everything in when you need to. Essentially organic. And because of the unique nature of our heroes, Jeremy injects a beautiful amount of ingenuity in setting the stage for the action set pieces and playing them out.

It's a superb first outing for Jeremy Scott and I can't wait to read his next outing.

Almost finished reading Metro 2033...loving it, having played (100% baby!) both the original and redux versions, it's easy to immerse myself in that world, and I gotta say the game did a pretty darn good job of visualizing the story.

I am listening to the Singularity series audiobook.

Sort blurp about the first book
David Ryan is the designer of ELOPe, an email language optimization program, that if successful, will make his career. But when the project is suddenly in danger of being canceled, David embeds a hidden directive in the software accidentally creating a runaway artificial intelligence.

David and his team are initially thrilled when the project is allocated extra servers and programmers. But excitement turns to fear as the team realizes that they are being manipulated by an A.I. who is redirecting corporate funds, reassigning personnel and arming itself in pursuit of its own agenda.

I also enjoyed this it doesn't have the depth of and attention needed for books such as kingkiller or stormlight archive but if you enjoyed things like the reckoners you will enjoy this too, I now need to finish of Brent weeks Night Angel series
