If it wasn't for the fact that the server belongs to NAG, I would have gone private a long time ago. I've actually been thinking of raising the issue with Geometrix, but I don't think he'll go for it.

I was about to buy it as Gamersgate has a special on Arma II.

But now after reading this story about the hacking, I'm not so keen anymore.
I also have a problem with my ping and the problem seems to be at the exchange.
And I guess Telkom is not going to do anything about it anytime soon.
Hackers are f*ckin' oraal! Can't they just go live in a deep, dark hole and die out.
I was looking forward to playing this mod! ... If I ever get the game and Mod.
Graal you should mention to the "whoever it is who you are dealing with"
That because of the hacking they are losing out on potential future revenue, if they don't care to fix the problem why would I care to buy the game and although the mod is free now, I don't doubt for one second that it'll be turned into a full on game on its own in the future.
I've stopped playing BF3 because of hacking, I wanted to buy Arma II ect to play this mod because it looked epic but its now joined the "Do not touch till developer gives a crap pile".

Setting up a private hive. More and more servers are going private because the hackers are having an absolute ball on the servers, and due to the restrictive rules placed on us by the devs, we can't do anything to stop them. Even banning them is technically a grey area, because the devs want solid, consistent proof that someone is hacking before we're allowed to ban them. I mean, how the hell do you get proof of hacking if the anti-cheat protection is so shitty that it doesn't even log when someone hacks, or even worse, the hackers can spoof user IDs so it looks like someone else is doing the hacking?
A private hive would allow me to not only make the server a lot more secure, but also run a lot more stable with a lot less desync, due to the fact that the server doesn't have to send any data to a remote Hive. The only problem is, Rocket doesn't condone private hives, and blacklists IPs that run them. If he ever changes his mod code so that it cannot be run in conjunction with a private hive, we'd lost the server entirely.
Wow ok... private hive = pure awesome until the IP blacklisting part...
Ok Zoopy... i have a couple questions.
1. What hardware is needed for a private hive?
2. Where can i get a copy of the mission file from?
3. Any tips or pointers?
My reason for asking is because im going to try and set up a Lannable hive server to test with in my free time and eventually take it online once i have the lan working

The biggest thing is the average of 2TB bandwidth you would need monthly![]()
Meh... everything i'm reading here just gonna make me wait longer for FULL release before i buy this game. To many glitches and things people are complaining about.
The game itself, although in Alpha still, is unreal. For me, its the most immersive game I have ever played in the past 20 years of gaming. I find myself moving closer and closer to my screen every 10 minutes. Its intense and its brilliant. The learning curve is hard and the game hurts new players hard... But that adds to the appeal. Besides, the reward is always worth the journey.

Hackers do suck pole, and they do wreck a good game experience, but I am still going to jam. I have been in about 3 incidents in the 3-4 weeks I have played. Getting teleported to Thunderdome is the only Alt-F4 excuse (glares at DC'ers...)
