The problem with mass effect 3: the gameplay. I got so pissed off when it was just a shameless port. The guns on PC had no recoil. everything was still geared towards console, and the devs didnt bother to change a single thing. Well, that did it for me, and I didnt even bother finishing it. The first was one of my all time favourites though.

Not sure how lack of recoil ties in to "everything geared towards consoles". The guns in ME3 did has a significant amount of recoil, the M-55 Argus was pretty much useless for the amount of vertical climb it had. All other Assault Rifles, SMG's and even some of the pistols would become wholly inaccurate if fired rapidly. Secondly if the feel of the guns is enough to put you off an amazing story then maybe you should stick to shooters.

Call me jaded, but ME:3 just didnt do it for me like the first two. Im sure im not the only one, look at the user reviews of these two games:

Yeah and Im sure those user reviews have nothing to do with the copious amounts of nerd raged about ME3 ending or the fact that 42% of people who bought it finished it, which is 2 percent more than the amount who finished ME1 (http://mygaming.co.za/forum/showthre...+mass+effect+3). Considering you didn't even finish it I wouldn't say you gave it a fair chance, probably like most people who heard about the "shitty" endings and decided the game was shit without bothering to finish it.

ME3 has its issue, alot of them but the plot and the over all narrative of the Mass Effect Saga is a mammoth achievement within an interactive medium.

I also didn't like Mass Effect 3 that much. I felt like I was playing Gears of War in space; i.e. it felt like a cover shooter with added (light) RPG elements instead of an RPG with shooting for combat. I mean you couldn't even holster the gun for crying out loud, I remember spending hours at a time in ME2 without taking my gun out. It wasn't all that bad, but the story didn't grip me and the lack of choice in dialogues really annoyed me. Mass Effect 2 will always have a spot in my list of best games ever made, but ME3 doesn't even qualify as one of the best games this year IMO. It does, however, have a spot on my list of most disappointing games of 2012

Yeah, ME3 was arguably the worst game of the three. Weak story and even weaker gameplay. It was pretty much Gears of War with a few interactive bits. Just take a look at your options for exploration, it's pretty much limited to the Citadel. The only time you see other areas is when you're busy with a mission, and even then there's not really any avenues for exploration.

I don't understand this, what didn't they change? You do realise the PC version had a completely different UI catering specifically to KB/M? Not sure how the gun play was "geared towards console" either since that was the only aspect of ME3 that I preferred over 1 and 2.

Anyway the ME3 discussion has been done to death.

The last time a topic was so hotly debated it was whether or not Luke had feelings for Lea before finding out she was his sister.

While it was no master piece I enjoyed ME3 alot and found it a fitting ending to the Saga.

I Might be pushing it with the 5 years limit but Mass Effect 1 & Witcher 1 was the last 2 RPGS that I enjoyed & finished. Story wise nothing really came close.

I'm a bit of a bioware fanboy... Mass Effect series is legit. But the game with the most gaming hours for me has to be Dragon Age... 200+ hrs...
