I don't see this happening. LoL peaks at like a million concurrent players and they only have 3 servers. Why exactly would they bother with a server supporting a few thousand at best. Not to mention that I've never seen a f2p game allowing third parties hosting servers, apart from maybe TF2.

I chatted to the League of Legends just a little shy of a year ago about getting LOL servers for SA and at that stage it was very much a dead end for the time being. The server requirements are like those for an MMO, i.e. massive. So its not just a server, its an entire cluster of servers. At that stage, there wasn't sufficient local numbers to support the large investment required.

There are other F2P games hosted in SA, in addition to TF2: Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield Play4Free (http://bit.ly/Tf6CpV), also Teeworlds. Also, IS hosts HON and Quake Live.

Still its good to see more movement on online gaming in SA. The more we grow, the more opportunities like this will come to actual fruition.

Er, I somehow doubt they have "3 servers". Maybe 3 main regions which have their own datacenters.

While I would love to see local LoL servers, I do have to agree, unlike HoN, I've never heard of LoL outsourcing their network infrastructure.

No of course I completely meant they only have 3 servers and using the word under the most strictest technical sense. Considering I can't speak to the network setup nor can I definitely say how many datacenters they may or may not have or where they may or may not have them, I foolishly used the all encompassing colloquialism of 'server', my bad.

Korea and Poland has their own servers which are not open to the rest of the world.

South America (Brazil in particular) will have their own server in the next year or so.

Also, Zolmaster, I know this name, from the way back machine of CS. Maybe you're just a clone.

I would be very surprised to see this happen.

This is highly unlikely but if they can pull it off it can be a great asset to us

Not so sure about that. The way the game is set up having a small pool of players may actually land up being detrimental especially when you consider wait times and match making.
